PMKA also known as PMK, PMVA, PMKASEperoxisomal enzyme that is a member of the galactokinase, homoserine kinase, mevalonate kinase, and phosphomevalonate kinase (GHMP) family of ATP-dependent enzymes. Induced by sterol, PMVK participates in isopentenyl diphosphate
biosynthesis via the mevalonate pathway. PMVK catalyzes the conversion of mevalonate 5-phosphate into mevalonate 5-diphosphate in the fifth reactionof the cholesterol biosynthetic pathway.
