Members of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family, named for the closely related Toll receptor in Drosophila, play a pivotal role in innate immune responses. TOLLIP is a component of the signaling pathway of IL-1 and Toll-like receptors. It controls the magnitude of inflammatory cytokine production in response to IL-1B and LPS.
