The proteasome is a multicatalytic proteinase complex with a highly ordered ring-shaped 20S core structure. Proteasomes are distributed throughout eukaryotic cells at a high concentration and cleave peptides in an ATP/ubiquitin-dependent process in a non-lysosomal pathway. The proteasome has an ATP-dependent proteolytic activity. Mediates the lipopolysaccharide-induced signal transduction in the macrophage proteasome .Might be involved in the anti-inflammatory response of macrophages during the interaction with C.albicans heat-inactivated cells.
