NGFRAP1, Also known as BEX3, it may be a signaling adapter molecule for NGF induced NGFR/P75NTR mediated apoptosis. It plays a role in zinc triggered neuronal death. In the absence of reducing stress, NGFRAP1 acts as a pseudo substrate for CRL2 (FEM1B) complex: it is associated with FEM1B through zinc, thereby preventing the association between FEM1B and its substrate.
