FABP2， Also known as intestinal fatty acid binding protein (I-FABP), it is a member of the fatty acid binding protein (FABPS) family. FABP plays a role in the intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids and their acyl CoA esters. FABP2 may be involved in the synthesis of lipoproteins rich in triglycerides. It binds to saturated long-chain fatty acids with high affinity, but has a lower affinity for unsaturated long-chain fatty acids. FABP2 can also help maintain energy homeostasis by acting as a lipid sensor.
