Integrins alpha-6/beta-1 are receptors for platelet laminin and are members of the integrin alpha chain protein family. Integrins are heterodimeric membrane proteins composed of alpha chains and beta chains that play a role in cell surface adhesion and signal transduction. Integrins alpha-6/beta-4 are receptors for intermediate adhesion proteins in epithelial cells and play a critical structural role in hemidesmosomes. Integrins alpha-6/beta-4 may promote tumorigenesis, while alpha6 β 1 integrin may negatively regulate the ERBB2/HER2 signaling.
