AIFM2 is a flavoprotein oxidoreductase that binds to single stranded DNA, an enzyme associated with mitochondria that can migrate to the nucleus during cell apoptosis and is believed to cause apoptosis in the presence of bacterial and viral DNA. It binds to DNA in a sequence independent manner. AIFM2 may contribute to genotoxin induced growth arrest.
