FBXO6, also known as FBG2, FBS2, FBX6, belongs to the F-box protein family. FBXO6 is a substrate recognition component of Skp1-Cullin-1-F-box protein (SCF) ubiquitin E3 ligase complex, which recognizes the shell disaccharides in unfolded N-glycoproteins and targets glycoproteins for polyubiquitination and degradation. It can specifically recognize activated CHEK1 (phosphorylated on Ser-345), promote its ubiquitination and degradation, and participate in DNA damage reactions. FBXO6 can recognize and bind to denatured glycoproteins, which are not only modified with high mannose but also with complex oligosaccharides. Also identify sulfated polysaccharides.
