It is a regulatory subunit of the WMM N6 methyltransferase complex, playing an important role in the efficiency of mRNA splicing and processing, as well as mRNA stability. It is a factor required for the accumulation of METTL3 and METTL14 into nuclear speckle. WTAP regulates G2/M cell cycle transition by binding to the 3'UTR of CCNA2, thereby enhancing its stability.
